About Unseen Issues

A solo practice built around one principle: find the real problem, build the real fix, then leave the client better equipped than when you arrived.

The practice

Unseen Issues is a solo consultancy. One consultant, one client at a time.

Unseen Issues started from a specific frustration: watching operationally sound businesses stay stuck because no one would name the real problem.

The consulting industry has a selection bias toward complexity. Big firms bill by headcount. Fractional operators extend engagements. Frameworks need to be taught. Every incentive in the industry pushes toward more time, more process, more cost — not toward finding the shortest path from constraint to fixed.

The Business Brief exists to be that shortest path. It's built around the premise that most businesses doing $1M–$15M have one real operational constraint at any given time. Find that one thing, build the fix, hand it over. Then leave.

The solo structure is not a limitation — it's the point. When one consultant does the diagnostic, forms the judgment, and builds the fix, nothing gets lost in handoffs. The owner talks to the person who actually understands their business. The person who builds the solution is the same person who found the problem.

AI tools are part of this work where they genuinely help: surfacing patterns in workflow data, accelerating build work, testing process logic faster than manual iteration allows. But they are instruments, not the judgment. The judgment is the hard part, and it stays human.

A consultant who overstays their welcome has failed the client, not served them.

The operating philosophy of Unseen Issues

What this practice values

  • Precision over breadth

One constraint, addressed fully, is worth more than ten observations addressed partially.

  • Delivery over advice

Recommendations are easy. Building the thing that makes the recommendation real is the actual job.

  • Honest fit assessment

If your situation is not the right fit for the Brief, we say so in the application review. Taking an engagement that won't work is not a service.

What this practice avoids

  • Scope expansion

The Brief has a defined output. Discovery findings that suggest additional work get documented — they don't automatically extend the engagement.

  • Generic frameworks

Frameworks are useful references, not answers. Every diagnosis starts from the actual business, not from fitting the business into a model.

  • Solutions the owner can't run

A fix that requires the consultant to maintain it is not a fix. Everything built in a Brief is designed to be owned and operated by the client team.
